town of peace.
walking in this small town, where my dad spent his childhood days, it seemed busy only for this chinese new year moment but somehow, despite the cars from other places and the buzzing noises of people talking, the town still maintained its special peaceful vibe. It was as if the trees and the breeze soothed the noise pollution of firecrackers and chinese speaking people.
Today in the afternoon, i strolled from the hotel to the taiping lake garden to pick a scene to sketch (college assignment). I sat on this old stone bench and studied the scenery of century old trees which stretched their large branches across the roads to the lake, dipping their leaves slightly on the surface of the water and forming an ancient curtain to seperate the hectic roads from haven. The calm lake showed another dimension of the world, reflecting the plots of greenland on the lake. As the majestic trees shaded me from the warm sun, i took out my sketchbook and began to record that very sight of my life unto solid paper. Drawing the outlines and filling in the details, curious passerbys would stop to stare for a brief moment before walking on to snap pictures.
Feeling slightly lazy and tired, i decided to lie down on the bench for a moment with the sketchbook on my lap. ‘ People are so gonna think i’m weird but oh well, i’m not from around here anyway!’ As soon as my head layed on the chair, something TERRIBLE happened.
A sound came crashing unto the muddy soil and I jolted up instantly. ‘NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!’MY SKETCHBOOK FELL UNTO THE GROUND!!!!!!!!!! The soil smudged my drawing and my other drawing got slightly folded, my flexi eraser rolled unto the soil, picking up bits of brown dirt on its sticky surfACe!I’m totally a clutz.. anywer i go! The drizzle of rain started to fall and i returned to the hotel asap.
This cny has been quite fun! Although my cousins n i are slowly losing touch wif our niece n nephews as they r growin up n cant reali speak eng ( we used to bond tru games) my cousins n i wasted no opportunity toh have some cousin time! we all stayed in the same hotel n went over to their room to play cho tai ti (my sis n i). strangely,i kept gettin nice huge cards linked together n evritime i got my cards i would ask my couz: eh u nvr shuffle properly ke?’But sadly im not too good wif strategy iq stuff so i didnt win evri round. Think i had sum gud *fung sui* wif my cards though! lol. In the middle of playin, suddenli the door opened n this tall guy in red shirt n cap peered tru. He came in casually n i looked at him.. never seen him b4.
‘ hi harvey’ my cousin albert n my sis greeted him. Turns out, he’s their ex schoolmate who’s the only child n parent’s hometown in taiping too n his relatives r mostly married so he’s so bored n oh he stays in same hotel too (taiping’s kinda small).
If he were to be a japanese, he would be voted japanese heart throb! He has nice quite sharp features.. oval face with slight pointed chin with fair skin n sparkly dark slit eyes. His long fringe sweeped to the side a lil n when he smiles he flashes his straight white teeth n a slight dimple. and all this, i can describe in two words….. *SO PRETTY!* (yes shu n joel, if ur reading dis u’d be rolling ur eyes n going.. she never changed… haha)
Anyway, we went to taiping sentral ( the 1st modern shopping complex n cineplex in taiping which just opened 5 months ago!) n hung out there, bought movie tickets. Somehow we ended in the show Inkheart n the show can be summarised in 2 words… *IT SUCKS!!!!!* The plot n storyline wus original.. but the acting, directing, camera, script, flow of story n ending wus TERRIBLE, HORRIBLE, AMATURE-ISH N CLICHED. this is the worst show ive ever seen in the cinema.. i actually raised one eyebrow frm time to time n wanted to doze off n wanted to walk out halfway! I looked at my cousin alvin who was frowning at the screen.I was so bored that i smsed to chat n it started to be freezing cold for me!I wus shivering n my friend suggested tru sms to go hold on to sumone. Well i wus seating between pretty jap boy n cousin.. to cling on to any of em wud be.. awk-ward.
After what it seemed like forever.. the most horrible movie ive ever watched in the cinema ended.*YES!* We walked out unsatisfied except for my sis who said the show rocked (SWT) n harvey who said it wus ok (but i dunno if he was sarcastic or not).
We went back to the hotel room to play cho tai ti (again) n bluff. i won in cho tai ti again cus my cards were not shuffled well! (aGAIN haha.. strange day). den we watched shutter tru my couz’s laptop since i recommended it. we offed all the lights n squeezed unto the bed. The last time i watched the shutter i wus FREAKED out for life. It wus in the cinema wer i screamed my heart out!!!!!!
That was bout4 years ago.. (wow) but this time it wusnt s scary s i remembered but the plot stil rocked. But when it got to the scary part i would be freak out n prepare my self.. tensing my hands until harvey glanced and smiled teasingly at me. he had his hand ready by his side for me to grab on to but of course i wouldnt do that cus i just met him!n he doesnt even noe my name hahaa. soon the movie ended n my guy cousins liked the plot but they felt that ju onn was 10 times scarier (i wna watch it!) but now dey got phobia of dumping n mistreating girlfrens lol (shutter story plot).
This short break was nice. I got to buy a gorgeous pair of shades n other stuff (shopping! wootz) n also got to take time off to clear my head.Im starting to get a clearer picture on drawing the line frm the guy i like as he has a gf (i found out onli after liking him) n now im on a more casual basis wif him s frens. Thank God! i dun wan the same ting s last time to happen again..
I also confirmed that i really have almost no sense of direction. i got lost in taiping town few times today while walking! how embarassing. gtg now, sis wants to sleep haiz. till then, ciaoz
